this item is a big hit with both my granddaughters and the 3 year old I babysit. Very useful for undestanding the concept of how gears work and experimenting with different patterns of movement.
My 14 month old enjoys turning the lever on and off and trying to create a link between the gears. It is very durable as he keeps dropping it on the floor but nothing seems to have broken. I would recommend this product.
Older childern who come over also love it (not to mention me, my husband, and dad), so I look forward to many more years of educational fun from these. I bought this for my one-and-a-half-year-old to play with while I'm working in the kitchen. He loves it and plays and plays and plays with it. They seems to be sturdy and durable. The magnets are strong but not so strong that my sone can't easily play with them.
Nothing much to it really, but the entertainment value is well worth the money.Note: If your fridge is not magnetic these won't work. it is really simple to use, and fairly resilient - kids still learning motor control skills can jam the gears together and they still work, which is great. Mine have been dropped lots of times to no ill-effect, and if you jam 3 gears in a triangle (lock the gears) you can just pull them apart and they start working again.The product consists of magnetic gears - one drive gear at a set of freely rotating gears. The lumo-green switch can rotate the gears both ways. I wish they made more complicated gears that did fancier stuff. I have bought several sets for friends.Highly recommended.
I have a very difficult time to find toys to stimulate the senses of my hearing impaired grand-daughter without using music or sound. This toy has been wonderful fun. I am glad we found it.
